For 50 years I have photographed people, documentarily. Women and children in undeveloped countries, unemployment, mentally disabled, the meaning of childhood and history in our lives. Though my subjects often are people with difficulties and marginal groups, I attend to consist to my pictures compassionate everyday life; interrelate ordinary and even the joy. I learned a wisdom from an old romanian woman, Maria, who was living practically self-contained in a house with terrain floor. I asked her, if she was content to her life. Maria answered; ' I am content, because if I were not, I had to live the same life anyway.'
